THE ADVENTURE
The Red River Gorge Trips take small groups of teens on an outdoor adventure, leaving technology behind to create bonds, memories, and take on new challenges. Red River Gorge campers learn to cook their own meals, set up tents, and navigate during this week-long backpacking trip.
This trip takes participants through the beautiful Red River Gorge of east-central Kentucky. Here, they will hike low forested river canyons, over and under sandstone arches and ledges, and through the wild and scenic Red River. During their 5-day expedition they will gain invaluable leadership, communication, and social skills while hiking - with all that they need for the week on their backs.

CAMPING

A WEEK OF EXPLORING
Sunday afternoon - After an all camp orientation, participants will discuss the specific trip details with the trip leaders and begin to pack for their 5 day backpacking trip. Once they are finished packing and have dinner, the participants are invited to take part in our Opening Campfire celebration. They will then shower and spend the night here on site. The participants will wake up early Monday morning, eat breakfast, grab their supplies, and head down to the Red River Gorge in Daniel Boone National Forest.
Monday afternoon to Friday morning, participants will experience the Red River Gorge.
On Friday morning, participants wake up, eat breakfast, and pack up their campsite. They will take a short hike out of the Red River Gorge before loading onto the bus and heading back to camp. The group will arrive back at camp around 2:00 in the afternoon. Once at camp, participants get their first shower since Sunday. After the participants have gotten the chance to clean up, they will return any loaned gear, pack up their personal belongings, and eat dinner. After dinner, they will follow the check-out process with other campers.

Why a Red River Gorge Trip?
Hands On Leadership Skills
Every trip is designed with a leadership development component. Each camper spends time leading the group, with mentoring and coaching from the specially-trained trip leaders. Every trip provides a unique experience, encouraging participants to use critical thinking & teambuilding skills to face challenges as a group.
Lifelong Friends
These trips bring together young people from varying backgrounds, interests, and skill-levels. The program and trips are intentionally designed, from the length of our hikes to the time we relax and play games. This helps develop a team who quickly learns how to communicate, collaborate, and grow from each other.
